Tarot Tuesday: September Theme

First tarot Tuesday of the month for September! I am excited for the weather to cool down. Fall weather is probably my favorite season of all time. It’s time to break out the hoodies and get comfortable. No more AC running and the kids seem more comfortable being in cooler weather.

For this tarot Tuesday I’m focusing on a theme for the month. What should I pay attention to this month? What should I be doing this month to help me further myself? The answer…

Four of Swords

This card brings forth rest, relaxation, and peace. After the chaos there’s a moment for rest. To understand my priorities and re-evaluate my next steps to come.

A wonderful time to bring this up. This month usually brings me peace, not only with the weather but anniversaries coming for my husband and I. We have a family vacation this month, our son returns to school, and overall it’s when we start to feel that end of the year feeling right before the holidays. I love all the holidays and plan to make it special for the boys. Comment below with your favorite holiday and why. Stay sweet everyone!

So thankful to be in a place of being told to settle down and rest. It’s been a constant state of stress for me but it’s time to bring it all down and look out for myself. School term has started for me as well and I’m slowly trying to keep up with the work. But I also want to invest some time into write a book for Amazon if that’s even possible. Seems like time escapes me and there’s not enough hours in the day. Organization first and hobbies later!

4 Months Post Op: VSG (Gastric Sleeve)

Wow 4 months! Honestly, time passes by more quickly than you’d ever think. I remember waking up feeling regret and pain. Change is difficult and this was another change I didn’t feel all that ready for. But I went for it. Cause when would I truly be ready?

As it turns out I was more ready than I ever thought I would be. The change has been pleasant thus far besides the heart burn that I now have if I sleep on a somewhat full stomach. Highly recommend not eating before bed unless it’s very light with some water. There’s been many times I wake up with a burning feeling all the way down to my throat or felt like I couldn’t breathe from the acid build up.

Besides that so far it’s been 35 lbs down and counting! I use my fitness pal most days to track what I’m eating and making sure I keep my macros within the range. That’s probably one of the difficult things since according to some research online and the app. My macros for a 1k calorie day are:

  • Protein 75-100 grams a day (30-40%)
  • Fat 33-44 grams a day (30-40%)
  • Carbs 50-75 grams a day (20-30%)

Of course this varies and things come up. Eat what I can and try to make healthier choices. But these are the set goals and what’s best for me besides taking my daily vitamins. Which I definitely suck at doing. I give my kids their vitamins and always make sure they’re eat well. But it’s so easy to forget about myself. I’ve been getting better at remembering that I matter too.

A typical eating day for starts with a protein drink for breakfast. Easy, simple and I’m on the go: work, gym, or preparing breakfast for the kids. I do like the convenience of the Premier Protein Bottles and my favorite is chocolate. As a back up I enjoy GNC Total Lean Shake Slimvance in the flavor mocha expresso. The premier protein contains 30g of protein. 4 carbs. 1 g of sugar, 3g of fiber and 160 calories. Meanwhile the GNC does have caffeine, 25g of protein, 18g of carbs, 2g of sugar, 6 fiber and 190 calories. GNC also has a fat burning quality to it. I alternate these depending on the day and if extra calories are needed I mix the GNC with half milk and water. Also, if you want to add a workout recovery and a friendly reminder to drink more water I use Collagen for some extra support. I usually drink this probably in the afternoon after a work out since it’s unflavored it’s a perfect addition to my water intake.

As far as how I am. I feel good, lighter, energetic and hopeful. I am hopeful that I find a healthy weight and work out more. I want to tone and be stronger, healthier and eventually get into some kind of sport/activity. I do love swimming as an exercise which I think I’ll continue to do and work out my arms and back to increase my stamina and strength. I’ve always liked the idea of karate or taekwondo but one step at a time for now. Thank you for those who continue to keep up with me and my health journey. Stay sweet everyone! Late Night Read: Balancing Life

I use to be a night owl. Now there’s times I can’t wait to be in bed. Kindle in hand or laptop for studying. Usually the kids are asleep and that’s when I can take a deep breath and focus.

Tonight I am exhausted and have assignments to catch up on. Procrastination at its finest. I’m still missing 2 research question assignments, 2 project submission and reply to discussion board before the end of Sunday. I must work well under pressure considering I seem to always do this. But after my week off I hope to get myself on track and be ahead rather than behind.

Tonight I drew two cards based on the feeling I always get.

Ruler of Cups & Two of Coins

These cards compliment each other as they speak to balance within myself and around me. Ruler of cups focuses on the balance in heart and mind. To keep my head above any drama and move forward. While the Two of coins speaks to balancing my life. It asks if I’m attracted to being busy (YES) and how I should delegate the tasks and not put so much on myself. It’s asking me to move forward with a better way of balancing this lifestyle so I can have a more positive outcome which I mentioned above with school.

After this week off, I hope to have an easier time with myself and start to write again. I am writing a horror/sexual story. But I’m unsure if it’s okay to post it. I do believe I have my blog set to be a mature content poster. But it’s hard to know at the moment. Hopefully I can figure it out. Or I’ll post the scene/story and hope to not get flagged.

Tarot Tuesday: Intro to a New Deck

Grand rising everyone. August is here and I’m ready for September to come around already. August is a rough time for me personally. It comes with a lot of painful reminders and a bittersweet air as the days pass. Granted I’ve found strength in my current life and I grieve each year as a reminder of my loved ones. Now for the card of the week.

Seeker of Wands (AKA Page of Wands)

Interesting.

This card signals courage, opportunity, Fresh ideas and positive energy. Focusing on ideas and creativity this shows passion to succeed, new opportunities to pounce on, but the lack of experience makes the unknown intimidating. Distracted by all the ideas and vision it’s difficult to focus on only one. It’s letting me know the universe is aware of my inner battles and this card feeds my courage to move forward with these plans and work towards the bigger picture.

As someone who potentially (not properly diagnosed but have been evaluated) has ADHD (the inattentive type) this hits home for me. My mind is constantly on the run with ideas and plans for the future. It’s exhausting at times but it keeps me moving forward. If I can break up everything into small steps I’m confident I’ll succeed in my ventures. Although some will take time and some planning. I am excited for the next chapters to come.

I recently bought a new deck from Threads of Fate. One that describes this deck as bold and brutally honest. I’m yet to engage the deck as I would like time for it to settle and formally welcome it to my life. They’re beautiful and truly one of a kind.

I plan on using it soon in some of the Tarot Tuesday segments. But for now I’ll let it settle to then show it off to my readers. my journeyer is already a bit sassy but it has grown in the past year to be quite a partner that I adore. I am hoping the same or so with this deck.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s segment. I am collecting different clients readings to show and tell you all about. At times it seems rather personal to share but many don’t mind. If you’re interested in a card pull reading and give you a sense of what the universe is trying to tell you. Please feel free to reach out to me on my social media below. Until next time, stay sweet everyone.

Welcoming Another Month: Card Pull with Fave Product of the Month

New week means a new card. Usually I’d wait for the morning of Tuesday but I felt it should be today. (Read til the end for my fave product of the month!)

Luck, Fortune, Cycles & Inevitable Fate

A card that comes to remind me of the cycle of life. Where there’s good; there’s also bad. Overall I feel positivity radiate from this today. Letting me know that through a series of some unfortunate events. I’ll survive and surpass again. I’ve survived more than I’ve anticipated so far. Thus I’ll dwell in the good and overcome the challenges that steer my way.

Lately it feels like challenges come from all sides: work, school, and life. I’ve managed to overcome each one as an uphill battle. I hope to see the light at the end of the tunnel through it all. I still have my worries, inevitable procrastinations, and easily overwhelmed moments. I trust the process and what I can achieve step by step. I hope with the universe’s guidance. I’ll continue my progress in this journey I chose to be on.

What a way to start the week! Weekends can be stressful for me and it’s easy to count on the cards to ease my doubts and give me guidance in my time of need. Here’s to another month coming and more blogs to come: New cards to introduce, Tesla Related, and as always: Life.

Product of the week: Lip Mask by Laneige

My secret to soft lips and it’s part of my nightly routine. I wake up to wonderful soft lips vs the dried cracked lips I used to have. I had a tendency to rip or bite off the skin. I even use it on my older son who tends to lick his lips a LOT. It heals his lips basically overnight. This lip balm contains antioxidants, vitamin c and hyaluronic acid to heal and keep those lips moisturized and supple. Can’t help but love this product.

Saturday Update Vibes: Card Pull

Long week with tasks still left to do. My goal is to at least go to the gym 3-4 times a week to swim and warm ups. But I might have to more swim suits since one has been tiring to wash and dry the same one. I’ll probably hand wash and let it dry in the bathroom. It’s been a wonderful experience swimming again. Feeling one with the water and going home with my arms heavy from a good workout.

Of course procrastination has left me with many college homework assignments this weekend. Time has been my enemy and there’s no slowing down these days with work, getting organized and trying to get some sleep for once. A year of school left and I look forward to completing school and walking in graduation.

The High Sage (Aka High Priestess)

Decided to do a card pull with the intention of wanting to know what I should focus on. This card focuses on intuition. Asking to reclaim the wisdom within and be grounded. All of which I needed to hear and feel. Lately been thinking about the future a lot. It can be stressful and wishing things would happen when patience is needed to achieve what we want. I plan to enjoy this stillness and appreciate the current time. Every moment leads to an end. Enjoying the now and soaking in the memories are important.

Hope you enjoyed this little update. I’m also trying to write a story and have plans to continue writing more. I am not sure if they’ll be short stories or longer. Will keep you all updated. If you wish to connect my social are always posted. Stay sweet everyone!

Product Fri-Yays (Amazon)

Sometimes I get questions on products we use at home and what I think of them. Since Amazon is my main way of shopping I want to share things I’ve loved or liked. Enjoy!

Love

2things because they’re phone accessories. I’ve always loved whales so these two were perfect for my iPhone 13 Pro Max! The case is clear with the whale designs added it feels good in the hand and has protected my phone well these past few months. There’s also a way to add a phone charm so maybe I’ll get a whale charm to match. Who knows. You can find the case here: Mosnovo Whale Print iPhone 13pro Max

Next is the pop socket pop grip that I totally fell in love with. I always have a case on my phone since it always manages to slip out of my hands. Ooops! But, this pop grip has helped cut that down significantly (plus wearing leggings with pockets!) I adore the design and the little orca to orca to match. In case you’re looking for another design these popgrips are interchangeable! Find it here: Pop socket Popgrip Great Wave with Orca

Like

I always like buying accessories for our car Baymax. Some are cute convenient things to enhance the overall car experience with comfort. My husband likes to carry either his Starbucks travel coffee mug or his water bottle. Both which don’t fit in the cup holders. Thus I ended up buying an expander for those times and fit his needs. So if your cup holders are too small for your needs. This is perfect for you! Find it here: Large Cup Holder Expander (Batman Coaster not included)

Large cup holder

Hope you all enjoyed. I will be making more of these every week. There’s so many things whether useful or overall we have enjoyed having in our daily lives. What are you favorite products from Amazon?

Hobbies, Shedding my Weight, weight loss

Fitness Journey Begins: 10 Weeks Post Op Weight Loss

The weeks fly by and I continue to find myself more comfortable with my decision of weight loss surgery. Do I miss eating a good amount of food? Yes. Do I still crave junk food? Sure I do. I’m still an Oreo gal every time my period comes up. But I manage to eat one cookie with some milk to curb that sweet tooth. I’m still drinking my protein since it’s the most convenient breakfast and focusing on a high protein and low carb diet.

Since I was given the okay to workout again. I don’t feel there’s much limits at all since I have to build my stamina and strength. It’s a slow progress I hope to achieve in the next few months. Excitedly I signed up for LA fitness along with my husband. I plan to have gym partners and bring family to motivate me. My main reason? The pool since I love swimming and being in the water. Working out alongside my husband and I’m happy they have a kids club for our younger son to stay and socialize. As a parent it’s always hard to find someone to watch the kids while you try to get something done. Sometimes it’s near impossible. More gyms should have a kids club environment for parents to work out since at times it’s our me time to get ourselves out of a stressful headspace.

Since the surgery I have lost 28 pounds. At my highest weight I’ve lost 36 pounds. It’s amazing how weight can impact a lot since the energy and motivation I have is wonderful. The numbers may not seem as much but comparatively I’ve lost as much as all 3 of my cats put together or the weight of a small child. Where was it hiding? I am not sure. The body is a funny place.

I am excited to share this journey with you all as I progress every week or month. I hope to motivate others and share my experience as honestly as I can. More updates soon!

Common Questions I Get with Baymax (Tesla Model Y) Random Q&A

Q: Why a Tesla?

A: Cause it’s cool. Haha kidding (mostly). I like the idea of investing in a greener future. Adding on the car has been named one of the safest vehicles and the acceleration was nice. I couldn’t help but feel attracted to making the purchase.

Q: Is it better than gas?

A: Depends on the person. I like the quietness when driving long distances with only the music playing. Also, lack of oil changes means spending less time on maintenance. It’s a personal preference really…

Q: Have you really saved money?

A: Again this might be a personal preference. At the time we purchased the car. The difference in numbers was about 350-400 dollars a month. Currently with the gas surge according to “Charge stats” we are saving somewhere between 130-158 dollars a month. Along with Smart charge rewards we’ve been averaging about 10-25 dollars a month in rewards which is put towards supercharging or our electricity bill. The difference with current NYC gas prices is about 165 dollars extra a month to own an EV. I can only imagine in other places where people’s commutes are longer. I want Baymax around for as long as possible so I would say in about 4-6 years time. I would see the possible savings. (My referral link for SmartCharge Rewards to earn an extra 25,000 bonus points which equals 25 dollars!)

Q: White seats with kids!? How?

A: Don’t let them drink anything besides water. I occasionally take the car seats out and my husband vacuums the car. I wipe it down with warm mild soap water and use a microfiber clothe. Between the cleaning I have water wipes to clean off if I see anything. We’ve had Baymax since November 2021 and the seats are as bright as ever.

Q: How do you charge?

A: Whenever possible I charge from home which benefits me with the Smartcharge rewards but occasionally I’ll supercharge when I can’t since I rent at the home and the driveway isn’t mine. It’s trickle charge (level 1 charging) so overnight I charge about 10-15 percent at a time. I try to connect the car when it’s 60 percent or higher. Any chance to charge I’m thankful for regardless.

Q: Do you like it?

A: I have to say that I love Baymax. It’s a fun car to drive and my dream car for a while. Living in NYC it wasn’t necessary for us to have a car. But after having kids and them being so young. Traveling became difficult. Our Honda CRV was a nice first car and I enjoyed the trunk space I admit. Of course, there’s always it’s pros and cons. But I wouldn’t trade it (unless for another Tesla. Another Model Y?) if we ever happen to own a house in the future.

Q: Is it worth it?

A: Personal preference but yes to me it is worth it. I see it as an investment and a better tomorrow for a greener future. Safety comes first for us. And without much of a different cost wise. I would say so. There have been issues going around with Tesla service, panel gaps, and maintenance issues. But I think that comes with the territory at times. But I do agree with how much money is being spent for this vehicle. I wouldn’t want to settle for anything less or too troublesome.

Q: Isn’t charging difficult?

A: It’s interesting at times. It can be another errand at times. Needing permission to park in the driveway to charge, super charging when I’m unable to, or having to run a charge as an errand. Luckily, now where I supercharge is close to our medical doctors, 10 min away from my job, the gym we attend to is super close by, playground for the kids, places to eat and there’s stores to shop at. So lately it feels like a family outing or good day at the gym. Road trip wise we need to stop anyway for the kids so I don’t see it as a hassle. Sure filling up a gas tank is quick if you’re traveling alone or with adults I suppose. But with children it’s inevitable we will stop for diaper changes and food. By the time it’s all said and done we are on the road again with 80-90 percent.

Phew! So these are the top questions I get about my Tesla Model Y so far. Others have been more of a quick response or teaching people how the car works and runs. Our Baymax officially has social media accounts! Follow if interested and of course my personal accounts will always be below. Stay sweet everyone!

Two Month Post Op VSG (Vertical Gastric Sleeve)

Has it been 2 months already!? Time flies especially when you’re busy. I remember feeling so nervous about the pain and procedure I thought I would stay up all night worried. I was able to get some sleep but was scared most of the day. Now here I am 24 pounds later and it’s only the beginning. I still have the same comments in pros and cons (referring to last blog post). It’s difficult to enjoy uh of a meal when you get full instantly. It’s like a tease of your favorite food then your stomach stops you.

I’m still drinking about 1.5 of premier proteins per day while trying to eat healthy as I possible can with the occasional Oreo or two when my period hits (darn you aunt flow!). What’s helped me as a busy working mother is ordering a meal service for myself full of veggies and some protein. The service is called Splendid spoon. This company wants to make healthy eating as easy as possible. The meals are 100 percent plant based, whole and unprocessed ingredients, organic, non-gmo, gluten free with no artificial sugars. Besides the meals they also have freshly made smoothies that are functional and keep you full. The meals can be microwaved for on the go convenience and they add new recipes every once in a while. Since the containers are 12 oz and I have reduced what I can eat to 4-5 oz. The meals can be 2-3 meals for the day. If you’re on your own vsg journey or looking for a meal service to try use my Link to get 25 dollars off your first order to try it out! Let me know what you think about the meals or smoothies you try. I personally enjoy Beans and greens, vegetable bolognese, creamy mushroom and spinach noodles, and vegan meatballs with marinara noodles.

24 pounds down and the major difference I’ve felt is my energy levels. I’m getting up more and sleeping better (could just be exhaustion at night lol) organizing the house faster and cleaning more. I honestly couldn’t keep up with the maintenance and kids. I can tell with progress photos there’s a difference and in my underwear as well. Things are loosening up and I appreciate every pound off me. I haven’t experienced any dumping syndrome and I do my best to remember my vitamins but it’s hard to remember at times. I can do better in drinking more water and that’ll be my focus now that food wise I’m doing better. I’ve also starting walking and thinking about a gym membership to get my mind into working out. My best friend and my husband are to come with my to motivate me and themselves. It’s wonderful to have an amazing support group when you’re on a journey this difficult. It’ll be lovely to look back on this one day. Here’s to a healthier lifestyle!

Thanks for reading this update. I hope you enjoyed! Always feel free to reach out with any questions. Stay sweet everyone!
